Honduras Projects

Since that time, Honduras has become the site of our first Solar Direct project, in which Solar Under the Sun coordinates service trips. As of summer 2023, SUS has installed systems in 66 homes in El Horno, Honduras. Including 10 systems installed by local people trained by SUS teams with equipment left in Honduras for planned projects in 2020.

San Jose 25 MW Solar Power Plant

The solar networks, each with a generating capacity of up to 25.6 MWp (Megawatt peak), were built in the south of the country. This will, in turn, assist Honduras in its efforts to diversify its energy mix and and reduce its reliance on fossil fuels.

Solar Park

ENERBASA has developed the first solar energy park on a large scale in Honduras: Pavana Solar. The project is located in the department of Choluteca, at Km. 119 of the Pan-American Highway. With an installed capacity of 24,156 MW (DC), it is estimated that the project has the capacity to generate about 41,000 megawatt-hours annually, enough to

Community solar PV in Honduras

Over the course of 2018, 13 community solar PV systems were installed in the community neighbouring our Agua Fria solar plant in Honduras. The households did not have access to electricity prior to the installation. The solution consists of a home solar system including a solar panel and light bulbs.

Los Prados solar PV plant

The plant has installed Gamesa Electric Photovoltaic Solar Stations. The project is part of an energy sale agreement (PPA) with the National Electric Energy Company (ENEE) of Honduras for 20 years and which is expected to provide 73,000 MWh of electricity per year and to reduce carbon emissions by nearly 40,000t per annum.

Renewable energy in Honduras

Honduras has a large potential for solar photovoltaic generation. In fact, it is a practical solution for servicing energy-isolated rural communities. In 2007, there were about 5,000 individual Solar Home Systems, with an average size between 30 Wp and 50 Wp, which makes up for a total capacity of approximately 15 to 25 kW of power. [1]

Honduras Emerges as Central America''s Solar Success Story

Solar growth in Honduras has been fast, with the country''s first large-scale PV project -- the 144-megawatt Nacaome park operated by Compañía Hondureña de Energía Solar and Solar Power
